Fans on social media have made a connection between Rory McIlroy and LIV Golf after the golfer mentioned his plans to play fewer events on the PGA Tour in 2025. The World No. 3 recently discussed his schedule for the 2025 PGA and expressed his intention to reduce the number of events he participates in.
Reflecting on the 2025 PGA Tour schedule, McIlroy stated, “Considering the long season, I will need to incorporate more breaks next year and in the future because I felt a bit exhausted after the US Open and still feel some lingering fatigue.”
“In my younger years, I used to participate in around 22 events. However, now that I have more responsibilities, I plan to reduce it to around 18 or 20 events per year,” he added.
As McIlroy expressed his desire to play fewer events in 2025, fans quickly speculated that he might switch to LIV Golf, a Saudi-backed circuit limited to 14 events per season, to align with his reduced schedule.
