Oh, guess what? Keegan Bradley, the new US Ryder Cup team captain, seems to be doing great since his appointment. He just won the BMW Championship, no big deal. And of course, he couldn’t resist making some comments about his new role.
When asked about the inclusion of LIV golfers in his team, Bradley doubled down on his previous statement. He made it clear that he will make sure those eligible players from the breakaway tour are part of his side. Because, you know, he’s all about having the “best 12 players” on his team. But hey, let’s not forget, those LIV players can’t compete in the Ryder Cup because they’re not PGA members. So, I guess Bradley will just have to make sure they become members before they can join the team. Easy peasy.
The next edition of the Ryder Cup is happening next year at Bethpage Black on Long Island. And guess what? Bradley, the youngest US captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963, will need to announce his team before the event. It’s worth mentioning that LIV players like Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka are currently ineligible to automatically join the team because they don’t earn ranking points. Last year, Koepka was the only LIV player on the US Ryder Cup squad, and some people weren’t too happy about that. They criticized the captain for not picking other players and going with the PGA Tour stars instead. But hey, who needs variety, right?
